How to install MetaMask on Chrome

  1. Visit the MetaMask download page.
  2. Choose Chrome. The button takes you to the Chrome web store, where you should click "Add to Chrome".
  3. A window should pop up. Click "Add extension".
  4. Check for the fox logo in the toolbar of your Chrome browser. MetaMask will also open a new tab to walk you through the setup.
  5. All that’s left is to set up your wallet. If you’re new to MetaMask, choose the option to create a new wallet. MetaMask now also offers social login options during onboarding, but the Secret Recovery Phrase flow described below remains the self-custody default.
  6. You will be asked if you agree to have your usage data collected and used to improve MetaMask. Remember that this step is entirely optional, and you will be taken to the following step whichever you choose.
  7. Now, you’ll be asked to create a password. The only requirement is that the password has a minimum of 8 characters. However, we do encourage you to try and create a unique password that has a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as symbols and numbers. This is where your precious Crypto will be going after all!
  8. Once you’ve picked out a password, MetaMask will generate a Secret Recovery Phrase for you and ask you to reveal, save, and confirm it. If you ever forget your password or need to restore your wallet on another device, you will need this phrase to access your account. We recommend writing this phrase on a piece of paper and keeping it somewhere safe. Never share it with anyone or type it into a website: whoever holds the phrase controls the funds.
  9. Now you’re all set to use MetaMask on Chrome!

How to install MetaMask on Firefox

  1. Visit Mozilla’s Add-ons store to see the MetaMask Firefox extension page.
  2. Click "Add to Firefox".
  3. A small pop-up should appear at the top of your browser. Click "Add".
  4. Once the extension has been successfully installed, you should see a fox logo in the toolbar of your browser. A new tab will also open, inviting you to get started with MetaMask.
  5. Follow Steps 5-9 above in order to create a new wallet. It’s as easy as pie.

How to install MetaMask on Brave, Edge, or Opera

The Brave browser offers support for almost all the extensions found within the Chrome web store, so this will be very similar to installing MetaMask on Chrome!

  1. Visit the MetaMask download page.
  2. Choose your browser and click the install button. Brave and Opera route you to the Chrome web store, while Edge uses Microsoft’s own add-ons store.
  3. Confirm the installation in the pop-up.

After these steps, the process is exactly the same as installing MetaMask on Chrome. Follow Steps 4-9 that we’ve already covered in the first section of this article.

How to install MetaMask on iOS

MetaMask for iOS is a full-featured wallet in its own right, not just a companion to the extension.

  1. Open the App Store and search for MetaMask, or use the link on the MetaMask download page to make sure you get the genuine app.
  2. Install the app and open it.
  3. Choose to create a new wallet, or import an existing one with your Secret Recovery Phrase.
  4. Set a password, enable Face ID or Touch ID if you like, and back up your Secret Recovery Phrase the same way as in the extension setup above.

How to install MetaMask on Android

The Android app mirrors the iOS experience.

  1. Open the Google Play store and download the MetaMask app, or start from the official download page to avoid fake listings.
  2. Install the app and open it.
  3. Create a new wallet or import an existing one with your Secret Recovery Phrase, then set a password and complete the backup steps.
